Description

Spinosaurus aeyptiacus = Egyptian Spine Lizard is a genus of theropod dinosaur which lived in what is now North Africa from the lower Albian to lower Cenomanian stages of the Cretaceous period, 112 million years ago and went extinct around 97 million years ago. Spinosaurus was first known from Egyptian remains discovered in 1912 and described by German paleontologist Ernst Stromer in 1915. The original remains were destroyed in World War II, but additional material has come to light in recent years.

Spinosaurus may have been the largest of all known carnivorous dinosaurs, possibly larger than Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus reaching 12.6-18 meters (41-59 ft) in length and weighed 7-20.9 tonnes (7.7-23.0 short tons). With a weak jaw and hollow teeth it is most likely that Spinosaurus may have been a piscevore (Fish eater) and even eats sharks. Recent discoveries show that Spinosaurus may have been a quadruped due to it's short hind legs. The short hind legs show that Spinosaurus spends most of it's life in water than on land but with the older reconstruction its the opposite. Spinosaurus may have walked around on it's knuckles not with it's palms flat on the ground since it's wrists cannot bend that way.

Spinosaurus' distinctive spines, which were long extensions of the vertebrae, grew at least 1.65 meters (5.4 ft) long and were likely to have skin connecting them, forming a sail-like structure, although some authors suggested that the spines were covered in fat and formed a hump. Multiple functions have been put forward for this structure, including Thermoregulation and display.

In Jurassic Park III Spinosaurus serves as the main antagonist after it killed a Tyrannosaurus by breaking it's neck. In reality it'll be the opposite since Spinosaurus' jaw is too weak to break the neck of a T-rex and T-rex has the strongest bite force than any known animal on Earth and whilst breaking Spinosaurus' neck it'll crush it's neck vertebrae or probably rip it's head off and Spinosaurus went extinct long before T-rex had evolved.
